New Grain Technologies and Best Practices

The GEAPS Exchange provides a wealth of educational knowledge for people who work in grain processing—focusing on new trends, technology, and best practices in the industry.  IBT participates annually to find new technologies and processes to incorporate into their extensive grain solutions for customers.

Among the innovative technologies represented this year were newly designed load-out spouts that minimize fugitive grain dust—made by Vortex Valves, said Jake Crockford.  Crockford is a Grain Industry Specialist at IBT, and helped sponsor the show along with Tim West, Business Group Director, and Joe Altenhofen, from the IRPG Grain Division at IBT.

“This new product is ideal for resolving the push for cleaner load-out assemblies from OSHA and the EPA,” Crockford said.

Other technologies introduced at the show included innovative new grain storage and grain handling equipment that IBT will be incorporating into their comprehensive solutions for customers in the grain industry.

Record-Breaking Attendance

This year’s GEAPS Exchange set a new record for attendance, with 2,852 attendees from 28 different countries.  412 exhibitors showed off cutting-edge technologies and solutions for the grain industry in 250,000 sq. ft. of exhibit space.

“This is simply the largest and best show for the grain industry in the U.S.,” Joe Altenhofen said.  “It’s a great opportunity for us to visit with current suppliers and customers, and meet new ones.”
