While IBT Industrial Solutions is known throughout the Midwest for its bearings, power transmission, and conveyor belts, and safety products, many people are still discovering our fluid power capabilities. IBT took its fluid power products and services on the road to the 2014 AmCon Design & Contract Manufacturing Expo—where companies like Fike Corporation, Shore Line, Garmin, and Central Power Systems & Services learned about our expertise in pneumatics, hydraulics, air tools, and lubrication systems.

A Whole New Group of Customers
“Many visitors stopped by our booth and said, ‘I didn’t know that IBT had fluid power capabilities’ or ‘I buy my bearings at IBT, but I didn’t know you had tools and Graco lube products,’” said Brent Hanson, the Business Group Director of Fluid Power at IBT. “It was a great opportunity to educate a whole new group of customers on all the great products and services we offer in the fluid power field.”
The Expo drew 90 exhibitors and 650 attendees from across the Midwest to the Overland Park Convention Center south of Kansas City, Kansas, with attendance from such companies as Nestle Purina, Burns & McDonnell, BE Aerospace, Harley-Davidson, Hallmark, and Honeywell.
This is IBT’s second year in a row exhibiting at AmCon. “We are very pleased with the turnout,” Hanson said, who co-hosted the booth with teammates David Leffert and Jim Newell. IBT employee Ryan Farabee also provided support. “This is always a very productive show for us,” he added.

Products from 350+ Suppliers
IBT began offering fluid power services to its customers in August, 2001. Since then, the division has grown to offer products from over 350 different manufacturers—with about 60 “tier one” suppliers.
It also includes 5 dedicated support specialists who help customers choose products, design hydraulic and pneumatic systems, and improve operational efficiencies.
“The bottom line is that with our current providers and relationships, we offer an excellent selection of brand names at very competitive prices,” Hanson said. He added that IBT now offers products, tools, and systems from Norgren, Ingersoll Rand, Fabco, Stauff, AIMCO, Young Powertech, and more.
IBT’s Fluid Power Capabilities
The IBT team introduced visitors to their fluid power capabilities, including:
- Hydraulics—valves, pistons, gears, motors, gauges, test devices, full systems
- Pneumatics—vacuum systems, cylinders, valves, regulators, safety controls
- Lubrication systems—lubricators, filters, regulators, tubing, fitting, anti-freeze
- Material handling—hoists, shock absorbers, ergonomic devices, pumps
- Assembly and maintenance tools—air tools, body work tools, floor rammer butts, chisels
They also demonstrated a programmable Graco lube system. “We always meet high-quality individuals here, plus find a few people who don’t know about our fluid power capabilities,” Hanson added. “The nice thing about AmCon is that the primary participants are engineers.”
The AmCon Design & Contract Manufacturing Expo brings together job shops, contract manufacturers, and OEM buyers to improve the buying experience for machining, fabricating, prototyping, and assembly. They have been producing manufacturing shows since 1987.
The next Expo is scheduled for September 10-11, 2014, in Rochester, New York.
