Fluid power manufacturer Fabco-Air recently celebrated its fiftieth anniversary. The company has an impressive history of constant progress and performance.
Fabco-Air has been a manufacturer partner with IBT for more than 30 years. The two companies started working together when what is now IBT Fluid Power was named Powerflow Systems, Inc.
Fabco-Air was founded in 1958 by Alfred W. Schmidt in Cleveland, Ohio. Although the company is best known for their Pancake® cylinder, the product line has grown extensively over the course of their history.

The company’s workforce consists of 75 people, with an average length of employment of more than 17 years. Between Bill Schmidt (President), Scot LaMar (Vice President), and George Edwards (Chief Engineer), Fabco has a combined work experience of 128 years driving innovation.
Nearly 50 percent of Fabco’s business is fulfilling custom orders for special products, designed to customer specifications. Their engineering staff is ready to assist customers by preparing custom designs, as well as consulting regarding technical aspects. Fabco-Air offers nine seats of SolidWorks® and CAD support, available in 2D or 3D, downloadable from the Fabco web site.
Fabco-Air’s current product line includes air preparation (filters, regulators, lubricators, mist separators and coalescing filters), Pancake® cylinders, Square-1® cylinders, tie rod cylinders, Multi-Power® cylinders and presses, stopper cylinders, swing clamps and Global Series® extruded body cylinders.
Their automation components consist of many styles of linear slides, rotary actuators, angular and parallel grippers. To supplement these, Fabco-Air offers a full line of control valves (both solenoid and manually controlled), flow controls and reed, proximity and solid-state electronic sensors.
