Goodyear's Fortress Hose: Microban® Cover Fights Bacteria
In the food processing industry, the enemies are tiny and wily. They are the microorganisms known as bacteria.
Bacteria are microscopic one-celled organisms, found everywhere. You can find them in soil, underwater, deep in the earth's crust, and even such environments as sulfuric acid and nuclear waste. There are typically ten billion bacterial cells in a gram of soil, and one hundred thousand bacterial cells in a milliliter of sea water.
They are prolific breeders and growers and are important to human health. Bacterial agents cause many infectious diseases, including cholera and tuberculosis.
The control of bacteria is especially critical to food processing plants.
Bacterial growth is a constant worry. But, with Goodyear Fortress™ washdown hose, it is easy to fight back.
The secret is the cover of the hose. To bacteria, the cover of a Fortress hose is a very hostile place. Microban® product protection is an antimicrobial agent that's effective against bacteria, mold and fungi that cause odors, stains and product degradation of the hose cover. Microban protection inhibits the growth of microorganisms through an electrochemical mode of action. This penetrates and disrupts the cell walls. Upon cell wall penetration, leakage of essential metabolites occurs, and other key cell functions are disrupted. These cells are then unable to reproduce, inhibiting the growth of undesirable microorganisms. The result: fewer bacteria to worry about.
The Microban ingredient helps Fortress hose take in-plant cleaning to a whole new level. Microban protection inhibits the growth of microorganisms on the hose cover, and it's engineered to last the life of the hose. It's valuable protection that won't wash off or wear away, and you'll find it in every Goodyear Fortress hose. Fortress washdown hose, with its unique Carbryn® cover, is available in three pressure specifications to meet all your in-plant food industry needs (300 psi/2.07 Mpa, 1000 psi/6.89 Mpa, or 3000 psi/20.68 Mpa).
Goodyear Fortress washdown hose has high-quality construction for cleanup service in food processing plants, dairies, packing houses, bottling plants, breweries, canneries and creameries. With an abrasion- and oil-resistant Carbryn® cover, it can provide maximum protection against the adverse effects of oil and animal fats as well as resistance to mild cleaning solutions.
Goodyear's Fortress Hose comes in three construction types: Fortress 1000, Fortress 300 or Fortress 3000. All three have super abrasion resistant and oil-resistant covers to provide maximum protection against the adverse affects of oil and animal fats. All three also have covers that incorporate Microban's antimicrobial built-in product protection.
- FORTRESS 1000 is for use on pressure washer machines with working pressures up to 1000 psi. Applications include washdown service in food processing plants, dairies, packing houses, bottling plants, breweries, canneries, and creameries.
- FORTRESS 300 is a high-quality construction for hot water up to 200ºF (93ºC) cleanup service in food processing plants, dairies, packing houses, bottling plants, breweries, canneries, and creameries.
- FORTRESS 3000 is for use on pressure washer machines with working pressures up to 3000 psi. Applications include washdown service in food processing plants, dairies, packing houses, bottling plants, breweries, canneries, and creameries.
