Join the KB Fan Club
This is the time of year where temperature, heat stress and discomfort can get to be a big deal. If you can’t take the heat, don't get out of the kitchen. Turn on a fan with the new KBAC NEMA 4X AC inverter.
Using any highly complicated digital AC inverter is true over-kill for something as simple as a fan. But, with KBAC series of NEMA 4X AC inverters, you have a device that is as simple (or as complicated) as you might ever need.
Fans are a part of our daily lives. It may be just for in the middle of summer, and the job at hand is keeping your home or workplace cool, or for more industrial application of fan or blower controls, like a kitchen that has an exhaust hood with a speed control on it.

When it comes to these applications and many more, simpler is better. The KBAC series of NEMA 4X AC inverters offers the widest variety of applications and the fastest setup of any inverter on the market today.
For your basic fan applications, all you need to do is set one jumper to the right position and you are all set. Then, you connect your motor and AC power to finish the job. The control comes standard with status LEDs visible on the front cover to show the current status such as RUN, STOP, CL or FAULT.
This control has a jumper selectable mode for use in either a VARIABLE TORQUE mode like a fan, blower and pump or a CONSTANT TORQUE mode for mechanical applications.
There is no need to push some super small buttons up to 100 times, while hoping you went into the right function. All you have to do is just set the jumper of the KBAC, apply power and you’re done.
It doesn’t get any easier than that.
The rugged NEMA 4X wash down enclosure is made of cast aluminum and can take a lot of abuse. The cases come in industrial gray enamel or in a USDA-approved white epoxy paint for food applications.
Other applications for these controls include pumps, conveyors, mixers, packaging equipment, and similar equipment.
Even though KBAC series of NEMA 4X AC inverters are simple to set up and use, they still have some great features. These include: Phase to Phase short circuit protection; Static Auto-tune; I2T motor overload protection; and many more features. The controls come in voltages of single phase 115 and 230VAC, as well as three phase 230 400/460VAC up to 5HP.
Other technical details:
The KBAC Adjustable Frequency Drives are variable speed controls housed in a NEMA-4X / IP-65 washdown and watertight enclosure. They are designed to operate 208-230 and 400/460 Volt 50 & 60 Hz 3-phase AC induction motors from subfractional thru 5 HP. The sine wave coded Pulse Width Modulated (PWM) output operates at a carrier frequency of 16 kHz which provides high motor efficiency and low noise.
Adjustable Linear Acceleration and Deceleration make the drive suitable for soft-start applications. Due to its user-friendly design, the KBAC is easy to install and operate. Tailoring to specific applications is accomplished with selectable jumpers and trimpots, which eliminate the computer-like programming required on other drives. However, for most applications no adjustments are necessary. For more advanced programming, PC based Drive-Link™ software is available.
