Goodyear Insta-Lock™ Cam & Groove:
Locked In Couplings

Think about the military doing field refueling. Two things should come to mind: they better be quick and they better be sure. Refueling in a hurry, under the worst of conditions, you don't want to fumble and you don't want to spill.

The answer was a type of coupling called cam and groove. The US military perfected the design at the end of World War II. The design enables quick and frequent connections and disconnections. When connected, they stay connected.

Now, with Insta-Lock™, Goodyear has gone the military one better. They have modified and improved the traditional cam and groove coupling - and you can use it for operations. You can make hose to hose or hose to pipe manifold couplings, to transfer liquids or dry bulk products.

The key feature to Goodyear's modification is the patented locking arm. It has a simplified design and is easy to engage and disengage, having no springs, cotter pins or other extraneous parts.

With the Goodyear patented locking arm, when you engage the cam to secure the connection, it is locked into place. It can not spring open unexpectedly. It will require your active intervention, to unsnap the locking rings, before it can be opened. The rings snap quickly and easily - but only when you want them to.

The unique design also features tag-out and lock-out padlock holes, which improves safety. This, of course, is a plus if you have to deal with OSHA. It also reduces spills and other accidents, which makes management happier, too.

There are eight basic Goodyear Insta-Lock fittings, and IBT has them in stock. The Coupler is the female side of cam and groove couplers. They all have cam arms which are the locking device to the mating adapter parts. The Adapter is the male side or grooved coupling that mates with the cam arms of the female.

The patent pending Dust Plug is used to seal the pipe system and hose assemblies during non-use or transfer of assembly. Goodyear's Dust Plug has a singular design and has less product spillage when it is removed. Dust cap is used to seal the pipe system and hose assemblies during non-use or transfer of assembly.

Another unique Goodyear design feature is the stem design, which provides excellent crimped or banded coupling retention. The hose shank configuration can be crimped or banded. IBT CDC has crimping capabilities of 2", 3" and 4". Available in aluminum, Stainless Steel and some Brass in a locking-style fitting in sizes 1/2" to 6".
