SKF SFD for Compressed Air Systems
New from SKF: the SFD (Separator Filter Dryer) System, designed to enhance the performance of compressed air systems. It features a regenerative molecular sieve dryer media designed to remove oil, contaminates and water from compressed air systems.
SKF's SFD has a compact and integrated design, allowing for easy installation and maintenance. It requires no additional expensive external filters for successful operation.
Each unit contains internal oil separators engineered to extend the unit's service intervals and reduce operating costs by protecting downstream pneumatic components. Its benefits to pneumatic systems include preventive maintenance, saving of downtime, avoiding premature wear, freezing and shut down (concrete), poor quality work (paint), or worn or broken valves in general.
"With the introduction of the SFD, SKF has the ability to offer a product solution to various markets - from automotive and construction to printing presses and medical equipment," says Tom Mahoney, Program Manager/SFD, SKF. "The technology incorporated into the SFD provides manufacturers, distributors and end users with a clear technical edge over any other specialty air dryer product in the market."
Engineered with two molecular sieve cartridges, the SFD unit channels air flow through one cartridge while the other regenerates, typically using 5% of the air flow, whereas most other air dryers consume up to 20%. Installation is easy, requiring two connections - an inlet and outlet port - along with simply plugging the unit into a 110 volt electrical outlet.
SFD units operate effectively with systems up to 10 hp, delivering 40cfm. For higher power and pressure, units can be linked together, and can function effectively up to 240 cfm.
The internal media in SFD is a regenerative molecular sieve, which works even better as pressure levels increase. The patent pending internal filtration can remove oil and contaminants down to 0.1 micron, .0065 ppm. The SFD will operate in a wide range of temperatures and is not affected by dirty ambient environments.
