Start Getting Ready for IBT Tech X 500
When September arrives, IBT will stage an appreciation event for customers that will have to overcome a big challenge: Outdo the Fifty-Fifth Anniversary Celebration of 2004. It’s a tall order and a tough act to follow, but at IBT, they are confident. The September 2006 event has been named IBT TECH X 500.
"We weren’t sure if it was possible to make it bigger," says VP Marketing Jerry Hayes, talking about IBT’s planning. "So we have been concentrating on making it better. While we are going about doing that, the new ideas are flying around and even though it is still months away, our excitement is growing already."
IBT President Mike Nemechek adds, "IBT 500 will be a combination of serious business and serious fun. Our traditional emphasis on training will show itself in the many seminars and vendor product presentations. And, with a full schedule of NASCAR-related exhibits, contests and ride-alongs, we’ve got the lighter side equally well-covered. It would be a shame for any of our customers, prospects or friends to miss out."
Preparations so far have locked in the dates at Kansas Speedway (Wednesday, September 13 and Thursday, September 14), begun to secure firm commitments from vendors and started to design a full roster of training and professional development seminars.
And, of course, there have been meetings about the food and beverage, the entertainment, special events and possible big surprises. As meetings go, these can become lively, as different ideas have different pluses and minuses and different champions and detractors.
One area of unanimous, enthusiastic agreement is racing. NASCAR will be well represented. Racing Experience Ride-Alongs will be plentiful. Revving engines will fill the air with their unique kind of music and noise. NASCAR machines will be on display for up close and personal inspection. Driving simulators, pit crew challenge competitions and who knows what else will round out the festivities.
Customers who come to Kansas Speedway will see the latest vendor products and programs, have a chance to browse a special technology section, will mix and mingle with friends from IBT. They will be able to share stories and compare notes with people from other companies in their industries. The variety and quality of the training seminars, staged by IBT and the vendors, will be excellent and helpful.
But, the overall emphasis will not be all serious business. After all, you don’t expect to come to a NASCAR track without having a healthy dose of fun and excitement.
The website is about to go live. Registration for guests will not start until this summer. But, it is not too early to save the dates: Wednesday September 13 and Thursday, September 14.
