Abrasion on Conveyor Belts?
Goodyear Has The Answer

In the hard rock mining and aggregate industries, longer-lasting conveyor belts save money and make money. Using the proper belt results in less downtime that can be caused by having to replace belts. Less downtime means more production and bigger profits for the plant.

Applications can vary in their severity, but the key thing to remember is to use the belt that is as tough as the job. No matter how severe the application, Goodyear and IBT have you covered.

Perhaps the most important element in a conveyor belt is the rubber cover. There are many different choices, but the one most often used in the hard rock mining industry is Grade 2 rubber.

However, Grade 2 is the least abrasion resistant of all of Goodyear's rubber compounds. IBT finds that Grade 2 abrasion resistance is not enough in today's quarry. Running rock crushers around the clock means that conveyors are running nonstop.

For these demanding situations, a better answer might be Goodyear's Plylon® or Plylon Plus® conveyor belting. These belts come standard with Guardian covers. Guardian is a compound that is 25% more abrasion resistant than Grade 2. IBT stocks Plylon® in a variety of thicknesses from 3/16" on 2 and 3ply belts to 1/4" on 3 and 4ply belts. It is stocked in 3/8" on 3ply 600# Plylon® Plus belts, for high impact applications.

For very abrasive applications Goodyear offers Premarc® (Premium Abrasion Resistant Compound). It is 40% more abrasion resistant than Grade 2 and 15% more abrasion resistant than Guardian.

When the conveyor belt has to deal with large, heavy rocks, the job calls for high impact resistance as well as excellent abrasion resistance. For these extremely demanding applications, Goodyear offers Stacker® and Survivor"! Both of these rubber compounds exceed RMA (Rubber Manufacturers Association) Grade 1 standards for cut and gouge resistance, as well as maintaining excellent abrasion resistance.

Small rocks, big rocks, abrasive rocks, smooth rocks: when you have to convey them, you need a belt that is matched to the job. Your IBT sales representative can help you specify the right stuff, every time.
