Photo Finish at Kansas Speedway
The UNITED WAY 300 presented by Yellow Transportation and Sprint Nextel, NASCAR Busch Series, Race No. 30 was held at Kansas Speedway on October 8.
The 200 hundred lap, three hundred mile race around the the one-and-a-half mile banked oval track carried a total purse of nearly $1.5 million dollars - and it was a nail biter to the very end.
The official margin of victory for Kasey Kahne (Car # 6, Ragu Dodge) over Greg Biffle (Car # 66, Subway/Duraflame Ford) was only 0.031 seconds, but observers report that the race seemed even closer than that.
The checkered flag was worth $78,010 and 185 points to Kahne, and worth $59,900 and 180 points to Biffle.
IBT's sentimental favorite, Denny Hamlin (Car # 20. Rockwell Automation Chevy) turned in a respectable day's work, finishing twelfth, winning $33,450 and piling up 127 points. The car carried IBT's logo as it made its way from an opening position of 31st.
IBT was well-represented at the event, and had hosted a pre-race gathering at CDC on the Friday before the event.
With the upcoming Customer Appreciation Day set for September 2006, and with a number of vendors being heavily involved in racing, IBT management recognizes the enthusiasm that NASCAR generates in the company's customers, prospects, associates and friends.
IBT Media captured Car # 20 on video as it competed during the contest. Click the link on the right to view the video.
