Diamond Jubilee Video Premieres
It's the salesman's perennial challenge: how to engage the customer's mind and imagination so they understand and desire the products being offered.
Over the history of commerce, salesmen have developed tools, tactics, tricks and techniques. Those that were new, fresh and exciting were initially effective. But, like any other newest new thing, they all had a tendency to get to be same-old same-old.
With the creation of affordable and portable video systems, sales reps got a new boost. Now they could dramatically show and tell - and hope to sell. And, once again, the world of commerce was on a winning streak.
When Diamond Chain began to work with IBT Media, the company knew that video was a very strong tool to sell their products. After all, many of the places that use roller chain are dark, dirty, possibly dangerous - and worst of all - somewhere else. Video could take the buyer to the location without leaving home.
Even though many of the customers were comfortable and familiar with the industrial environment, the means to present the full story - especially in detail - needed some enhancements.
"Because of our extensive industrial background, we know chain," says Craig Campbell of IBT Media. "We even had some footage of Diamond product in use - and we were certainly prepared to shoot video of their manufacturing process.
"But, the assignment called for doing more than just presenting the product in use or showing the quality being built into it at Diamond's manufacturing facility. The job required IBT Media to communicate, to both viewers and buyers, an understanding of the breadth, depth and specialized nature of the product and its applications.
"That's where the use of our DVD authoring abilities came into play. We used the great capacity and wonderful flexibility of the DVD format to really deliver a lot of information on each disc."
The Diamond Difference, the DVD produced by IBT Media for Diamond Chain, includes detailed application information about the entire range of chain products (list). It also gave Diamond a means to show each product in its wide line in actual use. The result is a selection of two dozen different video vignettes, each approximately 60 seconds long.
The disc also has drive design software, to enable efficient engineering of chain drive equipment.
The icing on the cake? A complete product catalog, with more than 150 pages of information, specifications, design assistance, ordering information, engineering details and buying guidance. In short, the DVD has everything one could need to go for the diamonds, and be a confident user of Diamond Chains complete line of chain products, for power transmission, oil field applications, sports equipment and specialized industries. And, it's all in one handy place: a DVD disc.
