Doug Van Auken Receives Charlie Howard Spirit Award
MERRIAM, Kansas – January 26, 2010 – Doug Van Auken was named the Charlie Howard Spirit Award recipient for IBT’s first quarter of fiscal year 2010. The recognition was announced today by Stephen Cloud, IBT Chairman and CEO, at a company meeting.
Doug has been with IBT since 2005 in various positions at the company. Beginning in the Vulcanizing Shop, Doug moved to work with Integrated Services Group (ISG), holding different project management positions. In 2007 he moved back to IBT CDC as Inside Sales Support for ISG and later transferred again to an Inside Sales Specialist position with the Safety and Warehouse Equipment Group in 2009. Doug was recognized for his efforts of working quickly, accurately and enhancing departmental effectiveness.
About the Charlie Howard Spirit Award
The Charlie Howard Spirit Award was established in the memory of one of IBT’s most dedicated employees. Charles Howard (employed from October 1966 through March 1996) began his career at IBT as a driver. In 1967, he was promoted to dispatcher and in 1968 he moved to an inside sales position. There was never a job too big or too small for Charlie and he will be forever remembered for his many years of dedicated, loyal service to IBT.
The Charlie Howard Spirit Award is given to an IBT employee who has demonstrated outstanding service and dedication during the previous quarter. The recipient is recognized at a luncheon meeting and receives dinner for two, a $100 cash bonus, reserved parking and their name on the Charlie Howard Spirit Award plaque in the front lobby of the Central Distribution Center.
