IBT Inc. News Releases
IBT Offers Hydraulic Training & Troubleshooting
MERRIAM, Kansas – Feb. 20, 2009 – IBT, Inc. is proud to announce the addition of Hydraulic Training to its lineup of industrial training programs. The new Hydraulic Training program utilizes state of the art training simulators, and consists of two new courses: Basic Hands-On Hydraulic Training & Troubleshooting, and Advanced Troubleshooting of Hydraulic Components & Systems. Both classes are available as both off-site and in-plant training.
Hydraulic 101 Academy: Basic Hands-On Hydraulic Training & Troubleshooting
IBT’s Basic Hands-On Hydraulic Training & Troubleshooting course is an introduction to hydraulics. This 3-day course emphasizes hands-on training, troubleshooting techniques, and safety.
This academy is designed for anyone who works with hydraulics as part of their job or anyone who wishes to increase their overall knowledge of hydraulics. This training is ideal for Plant Managers, Maintenance Professionals, Design Engineers, Draftsmen and Hydraulic Assemblers. While some background and experience with fluid power is helpful, it is not required for attending this course.
Course material is based on an award-winning curriculum, along with additional sources commonly accepted in the fluid power industry. Course content is broad and applies to all brands of fluid power components.
IBT’s training utilizes state-of-the-art hydraulic training simulators to teach hands-on applications. MF101D-TSE simulators are the safest, most technologically advanced available today. These devices allow students to build virtually any hydraulic circuit and then introduce multiple faults into the circuit. The training simulator tracks the student’s progress as they learn to correct each fault.
All training materials and lunches are included. Early registration is recommended - maximum enrollment is limited to 10 individuals.
Classes will begin at 8:00 a.m. and will end no later than 4:00 p.m. each of the three days. Coursework includes lectures, presentations, discussion, component animations, cutaways and hands-on simulator exercises. Please dress appropriately and feel free to bring your own protective eyewear (non-prescription safety glasses will be provided for each student).
Training Curriculum: Basic Hands-On Hydraulic Training & Troubleshooting
- Safety with Hydraulics
- Applied Fluid Power Principles & Laws
- How to Interpret Fluid Power Symbols
- Pumps: Fixed, Variable & Pressure Compensated
- Pressure Control Valves
- Directional Control Valves
- Reservoirs, Coolers, Hoses & Connectors

Hydraulic 102 Academy: Advanced Troubleshooting of Hydraulic Components & Systems
This 4-day course explains the safest techniques available for testing the majority of today’s hydraulic components: pressure/leak testing.
Pressure/leak testing allows you to test 90% of the components in any hydraulic system without starting the prime mover, removing the component from the system or disassembling it. The majority of all hydraulic components that are replaced are still good components. Reduce your down time; troubleshoot your hydraulic problems the first time -- safely, quickly and very effectively.
