The Timken training session held by IBT in April marked a major milestone. It was the fiftieth consecutive year that the two organizations have collaborated in an intensive training event.

The first Timken training, in 1956, was attended by a group that included F.L. Cloud, IBT founder, some of his key lieutenants and select customers.

Then, as now, knowledge about bearings was important. Although much has changed in the fifty years since that first session, the critical importance of choosing the proper bearing, keeping it lubricated and well-maintained hasn't changed.

"We don't expect that the next fifty years will change that much, either," observes Gary Hense of IBT training. "And, IBT will continue to stress the importance of training. Not just for our executives and our front line people, but for our customers and prospects as well. It has helped us build our reputation and our business and we are true believers."
