IBT Media covering Tech X 500 events
There were some 2,000 people at Tech X 500. Most of them took in the wide angle view of the very interesting scenery: race cars, trade show booths, training sessions, other Speedway sights and, of course, great food and beverages.

A few folks spent their time at the event with a much different field of vision.

IBT Media had a crew watching all of Tech X 500 through the lens of an HD (high definition) video camera. The event was also extensively photographed by IBT.

John Naughton, Bob Brunk and Douglas Burton handled the video. It looked as if they were everywhere: in the trade show area, at the Pit Stop Diner tent, by the race track, in the seminar rooms, in the outside areas.

Their HD footage provides an interesting and permanent record of the event: people having a great time while doing business.

Unlike much of the scripted production work that IBT Media does, covering Tech X 500 was unique due to the nature of a live event. With smart pre-production (pre-pro) planning and an adaptable crew, capturing all details was a breeze.

Pre-pro helped everyone be on the same page about required elements, B roll footage, scheduling details and overall expectations. Communicating these details got the project off to a great start, which was critical given for a live event.

The production team has worked together for a long time and in many different situations. They are used to adapting to situations and overcoming challenges during production, but their Tech X adventure went as smoothly as they could have hoped for. Plus, the advantage of being mobile (via golf cart) to quickly move from one area of the Speedway to another certainly helped.

Photographer and web developer Mark Kuykendall had a slightly different mission. His still photography assignment was to take pictures to depict the atmosphere of the event.

Like the video crew, Mark had only one shot to capture each special moment of the event. He knew he could not afford to take a bad photo. The result was some 3,000 pictures, about 90 of which are on display.

In addition to a documentary record of Tech X 500, the photos and videos will be used to share with customers, vendors and friends; to promote IBT and our suppliers; and to illustrate to those not in attendance exactly what they missed.

If you were at Tech X 500, relive the events and maybe even see your photo on the website. Thanks again for joining us and making it a success!
