Where: The Koyo Training Vehicle
Instructor(s): John Miller of Koyo

This presentation will cover handling, maintenance, application, bearing specification and mounting of a bearing including a demonstration on how to properly heat bearings and install them on the shaft. The leading cause of bearing failures is caused by lubrication. Koyo will discuss lubrication intervals, type of lubrication and grease compatibility. Also discussed will be the benefits of using sealed bearings and spend some time reviewing new seal design.

NASCAR: Nomenclature Anatomy Selection Care Application Review
When: 12:00-12:50 pm, Wednesday, September 17
Where: The Media Center
Instructor(s): Alan Chapman of J T Chapman Co.

Review of gearing and high efficiency enclosed gear drives to evaluate which one is right for you. Gear drive applications discussed will include direct contact food/beverage lines and heavy industry.

Mechanical Drive Troubleshooting
When: 1:00-1:50 pm, Wednesday, September 17
Where: The Media Center
Instructor(s): Mike Pistone of IBT, Inc.

Attendees will learn how to calculate the relationships of power, speed and torque throughout a power system without the use of a calculator or formulas. They will also learn how to increase bearing life by visual inspection of location of sheaves and sprockets on cantilevered shafts.

Stop, Think & Act: An Electrical Academy Preview
When: 2:00-2:50 pm, Wednesday, September 17
Where: The Media Center
Instructor(s): Jim Wright of IBT, Inc.

With electrical devices, you may not see, smell, hear or taste anything until something bad happens. When a problem occurs, it may be a residual problem caused by another device. IBT Electrical Academies emphasize understanding the devices and the interrelationships that exists among devices. Look at the how and what of electricity and four common devices: fuses, starters, variable frequency drives and AC electric motors. The goal is to minimize downtime by educating and encouraging students to understand their applications and fix the real problem, not the symptom. Stop. Think. ACT.

How Safe Is That Safety Belt?
When: 2:30-3:20 pm, Wednesday, September 17
Where: Booth #47 - Live Demonstration!
Instructor(s): Mark Damon of Process Marketing Group

See an actual demonstration of the forces generated during a typical industrial fall. Learn what you may not have known relative to new fall protection standards that can impact you and your workplace. An industry expert who has served on numerous fall protection committees will lead you through the basics of fall protection, as well as those tips that can actually “save your life.” Don’t be left “hanging.” Come learn from an expert!

Bearing Maintenance & Trouble-Free Operation
When: 3:00-3:50 pm, Wednesday, September 17

The Revolutionary 24 Volt Motor Driven Roller (MDR) Conveyor Solution
When: 4:00-4:50 pm, Wednesday, September 17
Where: The Media Center
Instructor(s): Boyce Bonham of Hytrol Conveyor Company

Many factors enter into the equation when choosing an effective conveyor solution for your business. Included at the top of the list are safety, reliability and efficiency. MDR’s are widely used to meet those requirements and to achieve other benefits such as simplicity and flexibility. Since the drive train is distributed along the conveyor length, a single piece of equipment can perform multiple functions. This includes different speeds, multiple directions, and starting/stopping individual sections. This seminar will provide information on the application and the benefits of 24 volt MDR technology. Along with this you will also be introduced to Hytrol’s innovative E24™ solution which allows 24 volt technology to achieve new heights in achieving these benefits and more.

Specifying and Applying AC Drives
When: 5:00-5:50 pm, Wednesday, September 17
Where: The Media Center
Instructor(s): Ron Koehler of Yaskawa

Competitive manufacturing environments demand greater throughput, increased quality and less downtime. A system approach using AC drives can accomplish these needs. Learn how to specify AC drives for your applications with the right knowledge. Topics covered are basics of AC drive operation, application load profiles, common programming needs, understanding vector control and interfacing with remote controls.

How To Make Your Lube Program A Program
