Engineering, as we do it at IBT, is a challenging and rewarding job. We are never sure what each day, each project, each new piece of input will do.
We must come to each job and work each day with the dynamics of a mindset that is:
-
Focused: Look closely at the task at hand.
-
Curious: What do I need to think about? What do I need to know?
-
Paranoid: What hasn't the customer told me?
-
Creatively negative: What could go wrong? How do I prevent it?
-
Inquisitive: Let me ask you another question…
-
Knowledgeable: One horsepower equals 745.7 watts. a˛ + b˛ = c˛
-
Experienced: I think I remember a job similar to this from last year.
-
Flexible: There are many ways to skin the proverbial cat.
-
Collegial: I wonder what the project supervisor thinks about this?
-
Patient: Let's go slowly – and get all the facts right.
-
Persistent: Let's do those calcs again, just to make sure they're right.
-
Determined: This is going to be the best system they've ever seen.
