Timken has introduced a pocket-sized portable bearing tester that offers a convenient way of checking the condition and lubrication status of ball and roller bearings.
Bearings do wear and bearings may fail. A well-organized, planned and predictive maintenance program, however, can prevent catastrophic bearing failure that leads to unplanned downtime.
When the maintenance people can replace a bearing at the time of their choosing, the downside to the plant is minimized. With Timken's new bearing tester, maintenance can identify problem areas and intervene and replace, before the situation becomes a productivity-killing crisis.
Timken’s new bearing tester (model #: BT2100) is reliable, affordable and easy to use. The compact and lightweight design makes the device an excellent front-line predictive maintenance tool. The bearing tester uses shock pulse analysis for early detection of bearing damage and marginal lube film conditions.
A built-in microprocessor analyzes the shock pulse patterns from the bearing. An LED provides an immediate evaluation on a green-yellow-red-condition scale. The bearing tester also has an infrared sensor to measure surface temperature and a stethoscope function to detect sound irregularities via headphones.
Standard kit for BT2100 is the bearing tester with shock pulse, infrared temperature and stethoscope functionality (protective cover included). Optional accessories include: head phones, belt holder for external probe; belt case for accessories; handheld probe with five foot cable; and quick connector transducer with five foot cable.
In addition to the bearing tester, Timken continues to expand its broad portfolio of condition-monitoring solutions that now includes portable instruments, wireless continuous monitoring devices and reliability services. These solutions are applicable to a wide range of industries to create customer value by helping to maximize uptime, reduce maintenance costs and improve productivity.
